Must my vehicle meet U.S. safety & environmental standards?

Compliance to U.S. standards must be proven.  In the event that your vehicle does not have a sticker on the inside driver door stating the vehicle was manufactured to U.S. standards, you will need a letter or certificate from the vehicle maker stating that the vehicle meets EPA and DOT standards.

Is vehicle proof of ownership required to import a car to the U.S.?

Valid proof of ownership in the form of the original certificate of title or a certified copy is required.
